Faryl Smith shows the world how to be anything you want to be while in state. What I mean by “in state” is that feeling, world, state that you are in when everything is absolutely clicking. When you are in state you are invincible.
We all have a different state that shows are one true genius. For Tiger Woods it is being in the state of winning golf. For Tom Hanks it is being in state for an amazing actor. For Faryl Smith it is being it state to sing like no other person her age and many others even twice her age.
When you watch this video watch for the following two things.
1) When she is in state her voice is mesmerizing and she is a woman who holds herself, body language, energy like she is 25. I must be very clear here…do not confuse this with “she does not look 12 years old”. In fact, when she sings she is NOT 12 years old. It is as if she is transported to another universe where she is everything that you see on the screen. That is the best description of being “in state” that I can give. The video shows you this clearly.
2) When she is not singing or in state she is 12 years old. Her body language changes to that of a teenager. She smiles like a young girl, she talks like she is still in middle school and for basic understanding she reverts back to the way a 12 year should be.
What this concludes is that when you are “in state” you can tell your mind, your body and your soul/energy that you can a be anything. The real trick is:
1) Find the state that you are absolutely your best in/at…
2) Be in that state as much as possible and the world is yours…
To end this I would like to say that Faryl Smith did not need to win this competion. She has true talent like no other. She has already won by understanding how be one with wherever she goes when she sings and that place will afford her a successful life because she follows the Passion Before Paycheck principles.

Kenyon, I loved your article. Another word used for “state” is “zone” — as in “being in the zone.” I think this is a subconscious process where another part of the brain/soul takes over the personality. I agree with you that when Faryl sings, it is as if she were an adult mezzo-soprano. And when she is done, she is a 12 year old school girl again. I am very interested in this phenomenon in the arts and athletics. Certainly, the ability to connect to this level of being is inspiring, healing and magnificent. Thank you for blogging about it.
